Natural Hair softener recipies
Below are a couple of natural hair softener recipies that I use for my hair. They help to reduce the texture difference between my new growth and my relaxer.
I have included pictures opposite to show the results on my hair. As with using anything on your hair the results may vary for yourself.
Coconut cream and Natural yogurt hair softener
Tip - Make sure the yogurt is at room temperature before adding to the melted coconut cream/oil mix.
Personally I like to use a deep moisturising conditioner after this because the treatment can be a little drying.
Simply add Blackstrap molasses to your favorite moisturising conditioner apply to hair from root to tip, deep condition for 20 - 30 mins with heat. Rinse out as normal.
If your in a hurry add Blackstrap mollasses to your regular conditioner. Cover your head with a plastic cap for 5 - 10 mins.
After using either method apply leave-ins and ideally air dry.
Keeping your curls
To keep the curls achieved when you have used a hair softener try using the No! method of drying your hair regardless of whether you are relaxed or natural. This method is fully detailed in the drying section of growing natural hair . Alternativley dry you hair in twists this will leave your hair curly and the curl pattern stretched.
